Communicating with the Mentally Disordered, 8 hours

This course provides skills necessary to identify several mental disorders. It familiarizes participants with difficulties associated with communicating with the mentally disordered. Probation officers learn to identify the behaviors that are associated with mental disorders and select the communication strategies that are most effective. This course also helps participants build empathy, understand mental illness, and trains them on what NOT to say and why. Strategies for working with this population are also covered in great detail.
