Emotional Intelligence for Effective Interactions

Competent probation officers must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, in addition to successfully managing the rigors of a diverse caseload. With the skills that help officers regulate their emotions, they can engage in effective interactions that create real communication, productivity, working in harmony beside his/her desks, functional systems and teams, decreased stress loads at work and cooperation in the general environments, and more ATTENTION PAID TO THE WORK ITSELF. This course promotes enriched work environments in office, custodial, or field settings by integrating the Psychological Job Dimensions of law enforcement officers with the practical concepts of Emotional Intelligence. Using case studies, videos, and practical, hands-on exercises, the course trains officers on the application of techniques that provide them with tools that promote healthy choices in their everyday interactions based on accurately identifying, understanding, and managing their personal emotions and others’ perceived emotions.
