This course equips facilities staff to be better prepared for a variety of potentially dangerous situations/youth. Apprehension is decreased when staff has more comprehensive planning and preparedness skill discipline. This course enhances confidence because staff has more insight, strategies, and ability to approach a variety of potentially dangerous, violent situations with professionalism and control. This class is scenario-based and focuses on officer verbal skills, knowledge of one’s surroundings, and common attempts at deception and manipulation by kids who populate the facilities. This is a practical course that focuses on positive outcomes.
