Alex Ruiz

Alejandro (Alex) Ruiz is a Deputy Probation Officer with over 19 years of experience in the criminal justice field. During his tenure he has experience in Facilities (Juvenile Hall) and with a juvenile and adult case load as a probation officer. He is currently in an adult armed position supervising high-risk offenders. He supported the creation to develop the curriculum and teaches Juvenile Corrections Officers’ Core, Probation Officers’ Core, and Peace Officers Standards and Training courses for the Santa Clara County Probation Department. Alex has over 15 years’ experience teaching many subjects including: Defensive Tactics (Institutions, Armed and Unarmed Probation Officers), Chemical Agents, Baton, Mental Health, Suicide Prevention, Child Abuse, Verbal De-escalation techniques, Pro-Social Skills, and 832PC. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Criminology and master’s degree in Sociology from San Jose State University.
