Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, 4 hours

 

The course Diversity, Equity and Inclusion scrutinizes potential stereotypes or implicit biases staff might hold toward groups including African American, Latinx, LGBTQ+, repeat offenders; those with disabilities or mental health and substance abuse disorders, and those with alarming amounts of ACEs, and more. With potential personal prejudices “in check,” the course then turns to teach effective communication strategies and listening skills to better equip DPOS and/or Facilities Staff to facilitate the seamless reintegration of all, no matter their varied backgrounds, into the community as is their right.
