Zulema Viramontes earned her bachelor’s degree in criminology from San Jose State University and began her career in Juvenile Hall in 1997. She was promoted to Probation Officer in 2000, supervising both juvenile and adult caseloads, and retired as a Supervising Probation Officer responsible for leading armed probation officers assigned to high-risk offenders.

With more than 20 years of instructional experience, Zulema specializes in communication, tactical awareness, and officer safety. She led and coordinated the Advanced Officer Safety three-day course, implementing scenario-based video training designed to strengthen critical thinking, decision-making under stress, and real-world application.

Zulema believes effective leadership begins with clear communication and that officer safety is built on preparation, awareness, and sound decision-making in every interaction.
