Dr. Paul Chavez

Dr. Paul Chavez is a DPO with Los Angeles County Probation. He has five years of experience as a training manager assigned to the Probation Training Center. Before becoming a training manager, he supervised juvenile caseloads: kids who were in the process of transitioning home. Paul has utilized the Los Angeles model to comprise executive supervision and specialized treatment concerning Title XV standards. Dr. Chavez coordinated supervision with field probation officers, courts, local law enforcement, and child protective services to promote safe environments. Paul reinforces LA County’s goal of providing proactive supervision while preventing probation violations. Paul has presented at multiple American Probation and Parole Association conferences nationwide. He also teaches at National University and Woodbury Universities: classes in crime and the media, juvenile offenders, criminology, management, and leadership, and a class in ethical systems. Dr. Chavez is also a POST level III certified instructor in curriculum development, use of force, and principled policing. His teaching experience inĀ suicide prevention, enhanced and specialized supervision, and child abuse has exceeded expectations. In addition, Dr. Chavez teaches incident report writing, use of force policies, social media, and roles and responsibilities for probation officers. Paul is an active STC instructor for the LA County Probation Department and assisted in training over 2500 staff inĀ evidence-based curriculum concerning BSCC guidelines. Dr. Chavez obtained his Ph.D. and M.Phil. from Walden University.
